De Young Museum
The de Young Museum was opened in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park in 1895. Its fine arts display enriched visitors over the last century including yours truly who spent many summer weekends there as a kid. In 2000, the museum closed down for renovations and reopened in 2005 with a new look and more art. Last December, I visited this place for the first time since its grand reopening after being absent for almost two decades.
Happy Friday,

a very interesting building!
As Lara put it, it is definately interesting building. It makes me wonder about worst scenario on how many people would be required to stand on one side of the building, before something in its structure will start to bend.
On normal day that is probably never going to be issue since all the extra load is probably pretty evenly split on all floors as people move around in exhibits.
Splendid the photographs, the enormous white surfaces and the small human figures create a enough beautiful spectacle!
Nice work!
Your site has shown me that if I ever get back to SF, there are many more sights to be seen.
Wonderful!
Love that tower! Looks like a really intersting place.
I haven't made it there yet. It looks so fascinating. Your photo reminds me i must put it on my to do list..
Great artchitecture! Great pictures! But don't you hate how most museums don't let you take pictures of the interior of the museum?
Lara/Dot, Thank you for your comments.
Juha: It does look like it would tilt to one side especially when the bottom is smaller than the top.
Kostas: You are right. I always heard that including people in a picture gives it perspective.
NYCIndividual: Thanks! Luckily, this one lets you take pictures, but without flash. I can live with that.
RuneE: I hope you do make it back out to SF some day.
Photowannabe: The weather is nice again, I hope you make it down to SF.
That is one neat looking museum. But seems such a waste to have one thing hanging there and nothing else for the size of the room. But an artist i am not.
I think this is interesting tho, if i ever get back there i will have to check it out.
What a nice museum...love your shots!
Lilli & Nevada: The walls were kind of bare except for the one blurred painting that's there to stay. I hope you do make it out here during your next vacation.
Neva: Thanks for your comment.
I'd love to visit this museum, and I will when I'm in your city again, hopefully, in the not too distant future. :)
