Last Saturday morning, I hiked my favorite local park under gray and overcast skies. After a heart pumping climb up the hill, you can see the rest if the park below just beyond the solitary weather-scarred bench.
Passed the bench is another hill I climbed called the Red Hills Trail.
To the left, as far as the eyes can see are the old salt ponds that began in the early 1900's by The California Salt Company.
Eventually it was sold to the government where it was converted to a wildlife refuge.
Many ponds at the lower elevations are filled with wildlife like this one.

What a place. I'd love to sit there at the bench and just gaze around at the scenery.
The bench ideally positioned. I want to sit there and enjoy view!
Great exercise and such a special view as a reward when you reach the top!
That's a good uphill walk.

the views from the picnic table must be spectacular when the fog lifts.
Great series! The second shot is cool, I would love to walk up that trail. Have a great weekend!
a very beautiful world Karen, from the bottom lakes filled with wildlife to the fog drenched top of the hill, the view from the top looks so peaceful
Oh, what a fabulous walk and what great views! I don't mind walking in any weather and often walk in the rain, but I bet this walk would be stunning in sunny weather!
