The McDonald Train

I noticed this very unusual McDonald's restaurant in Barstow, California's bus station.

As you can see, part of the train is attached to the main McDonald's restaurant.

The interior of the train has been made into a seating area for McDonald's customers.

To read more about this interesting station's history, click here. I also read that the same McDonald's was badly damaged in 1986 when a car at the drive-thru window caught fire and in 1997 a gunmen shot several customers including killing a young child. Hmmm, I did not know about its sordid history until I started my research to write this post.

We stopped there in the late 70s. Strange, I forgot about it until I saw your post. As a kid, that was one of the highlights of the trip.

Neat looking place but the history is horrible.

I used to live down the road apiece years ago, in Victorville, and I never even knew it was there! Bummer!

This train looks fabulous in deed. Great interior design as well!

All: Thank you for your comments. Aside from its horrible history, it is a really unique place.

Jim: I know what you mean. Aside from the eateries insie, the place probably hasn't changed much since you were a kid.

Bill: Hope you get to stop there the next time you are in the area.

Know it well! I've stopped here many times on the ride between SD and Nevada/Utah. Makes a good halfway point to Las Vegas.

I haven't been in a McDonald's for years (since my kids grew up...I was a "bad" mother, unfamiliar with nutrition then) now have I been on a train for the same amt of time. Thanks for the latest info.,bringing me up-to-date.

What a neat place. Thanks for the photos and the info. About the Zoobomb bikes stacked on the sidewalk, I read that they're loaners for bike-less-participants. Crazy. Why anyone would consider riding downhill anywhere in Portland in a bike they had no knowledge of is the height of crazy!
