Banksia Serrata

I saw these unusual Australian & Tasmanian plants at the arboretum last week. In the first photo, doesn't it look like one has eyes and a mouth?

They reminds of something out of The Muppet Show or something similar! Very special.

Karren, the images look scrumptious! I would love to have some of that myself.

I remember these nuts are originally from Hawaii somewhere.

I thought you were pulling my leg, except I recognized the Banksia genus so I kept reading. Great pics!

All: Thank you all for your comments.

RuneE/Jim/Dot: I was trying to find words for this interesting plant and I think you have hit the nail right on the head...Muppet, Capt. Caveman, Monster pretty much sums it all.

Roentare: I didn't know you can eat the seeds. I'll take your word for it. :P

Sue: Definitely, plant or animal says it all.
