Lucky Day

Greetings from Las Vegas! I'm here with my parents after postponing this trip in June due to my father's heart attack in late May.

Although it's over 100 degrees outside, hundrds of people are still walking The Strip in the heat. There are "entrepreneurs" on the overhead walkways selling bottled water out of a cooler for $1 each. Not sure if they are legitimate vendors or not. Back home, you will need a vendor's license in order to sell to the public. Unbeknown to some, at the bottom of the walkway, the casino vendors are selling bottled water for $2 each.

Anyways, today was a lucky day since my mom won a $1800 jackpot playing the $1 slots. She's always been lucky in gambling. She even won several hundred dollars from cruise ship casino slots which are known to have horrible odds.

I thought this was a cool window display in one of the Paris Hotel & Casino stores.

Congratulations Mom!! You found my lost money. I love Las Vegas and it loves me. Vegas loves all of us who come and leave our money.

Hi Sue, Mom thanks you. We deposited more money at the casino today. Oh well. I love Vegas too, but I don't know it loves me by taking all my money. Haha!

Yo, AV, you in Vegas baby? Congrats to your mom on those BIG winnings and best of luck with the remainder of the trip!! Hope you'll enjoy yourselves, stay coooool!

p.s. while walking the strip, just ignore the little people flicking and shoving cards in your direction.

Hey Big Scott, Thanks for the tip. No kidding when you said HOT! Those guys flicking the cards tend to give away their cards to men only.

LOL, yeah, for real. You know what cracks me up (although it's not funny at all) is that they have no age discrimination- they pass them out to elderly men just as quick as they would to a teenage individual.

Hope you'll enjoy yourselves. If you are looking for a nice place to retreat to, Mt Charleston is beautiful and it is about 30 degrees cooler than the Vegas area (it's about 50-60 miles from the strip). And, if you like tea, Teavana at the Fashion Show Mall (second floor) is nice, too (I just went and got some of the Blueberry Bliss blend). Also, Red Rock Casino is nice, too- it's off the strip, on SW part of town, less people, newer, cleaner, nicer ;).

Take care, AV!

Big Scott, I'm going home tomorrow to cool off! :P At least they're only passing out cards now. They used to pass out booklets.
