This is a model gas station on display at the Route 66 Museum. Remember the days of Full-Service when an attendant would fill up your gas tank, cleaned your windshield, and checked your engine oil?This old pump shows gasoline was only 14-9/10 cents per gallonThe U.S. Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990 required the elimination of lead in gasoline by 1996. I am not sure if this affected gasoline overseas, does anyone know?
Today, "Unleaded gasoline" is allowed to contain no more than 5/100ths of a gram of lead per gallon.- Karen

Oooooh...I want to go back in time and get the gas at this price!
Would be nice to have a time machine!
In october we visited the Greek Island of Rhodos (Rhodes). When we rented a car we were told that there was no self service. Attendants were supposed to everything. And they did.
In Norway. at least, lead in gasoline has not been used for years. That is all too the good since the only ones who benefited were the producers of the additive. It was one of the worst environmental pollutants known.
Ah...those were the days. Great information karen.

----the last time i went home in the philippines, we still have that full service in most gas stations :) only that the price is not the same as the one in this post :(
The gas pump is a beauty! I took my car to a body shop for some work and the owner had one in his office painted red. It was so pretty. I think the price on his was 16 cents. Don't tell anyone but I can remember when it was 19 cents per gallon.
Very nice pics - pop on over to my blog and check out the gas pump I just photographed - it's kinda like yours only different :-}
Answering your question, no. Indeed some countries continued to use leaded gasoline away past 1996.
Lead was a huge scam...very much like flouride.
I remember these pumps and the stamp books where you could save to get food discounts, buy dishes, etc.
Man I feel old!
