Late Arrival

We arrived into Taipei, Taiwan late into the evening and it was close to midnight after the 40 minute ride from the airport and checking into the hotel. I guess that's what you get for trying to look for "bargain" airfare at the last minute.
We were unfamiliar with the area around the hotel, but we found a 7-Eleven nearby that was open. 7-Elevens are everywhere in Taiwan!
But, before going in, I spotted this poster outside. Yes, I am an Angry Bird fan.
Since I do not read Chinese, I could not decipher what it said, but could guess. I sent this picture to a friend and she had it translated it for me. :)
Not much of a dinner, but we did buy some snacks to bring back to the hotel room.

All the Taiwan hotels we stayed in had an amenity of complimentary personal hygiene products for their guests. I didn't really had to unpack since we were just staying at this hotel for one night.

After only a few hours of sleep, we got up early and went to eat our complimentary breakfast that came with the hotel room stay.

We brought our luggage to our next hotel for storage, figured out the subway system, and headed over to the Taipei 101 building.
I had wanted to come here for years after seeing it on television. Back then, it was the tallest building in the world. Now it is only the 2nd tallest building in the world at 1,670 ft. (509 m) after the Burj Khalifa skyscraper.

Wow, what a great design. I am sorry to show my ignorance by saying that I had never heard of the building. My loss.

Yogi: No problem, you know about it now. I understand every night, it is a different color.

Life Ramblings: Yes, I did go up to the observatory deck. I would not miss it for the world.

Rainfield61: I agree, I hope I can still remember the good times of travel when I get old.

it's great for you to be able to finally realize what you had wanted to do for years, it may no longer be the tallest building in the world now, but still, you were able to live that sweet experience of being in it.

I trust that your trip is/was all you had hoped. I am looking forward to more wonderful photos, and your great stories to go with them.

Betchai: Thanks for the reassurance. I was thinking the same too.

EastCoastLife: I was there a few weeks ago. Too bad we weren't there at the same time. Will you be there for vacation?

llandudnopictures: Yes, there are lots of photos to go through. I hope I can remember all the places.

Eileeninmd: You don't want to be addicted to Angry Birds. :)

Carol: It was quite a view and I am glad I'm not afraid of heights as long as there is a wall between me and the ground. :)

Jenny: So you know how addictive Angry Birds can be! Yes, I did go inside! More on that later.

Lina: It was a 7-Eleven and they sell coffee called City Cafe. After buying 3 medium coffees and getting a sticker with each purchase, you can get an Angry Bird pen for $59 NT ($1.95 USD).

La Principessa Errante: Yes, it was and thanks for asking!

Karen - I'm sorry for all of the comments but I am just catching up! Last one, promise. Isn't the exterior of the Taipei 101 building just beautiful?
