At The Other End

At the other end of the bridge is a statue dedicated to Joseph B. Strauss, the chief engineer of the Golden Gate Bridge.

The plaque at the bottom of the statue reads...

A cross-section view of a cable used on the bridge. If you like numbers or architecture, the statistics should interest you.

A gift shop right at the end of the bridge. Can you say "captive audience"? The little shop was pretty crowded.

Right behind the gift shop is the toll plaza. It is $6 when traveling southbound towards San Francisco. Northbound is free.

I have a fascination for bridges. The choice of pictures you decide to show here are simply gorgeous in deed. I love them very much

I withdraw from EC because there were a lot of errors with the widget as well.

Through EC, I did meet a lot of friends :)

I like the shot of the statue with the bridge in the background.
The toll is a little steep IMO but at least you only have to pay one way.

I love all of your views. $6 to cross into SF? I guess I would try to never have to cross it.

i love your choice of pictures, it tells the story and the history. we were able to skip the toll usually since we cross the bridge northbound and do not enter SF through the bridge when we get back.

Now, that is what I call a cable! From what I hear he did a wonderful job.
