Indian Blue Peacock

Love that colorful feather span. Is that what it's called?

I assume peacocks use this mechanism to appear larger than than normal to scare away any predators or to impress a mate. In this case, several kangeroos were housed in the same open space as the peacocks so I guess one got too close.

I hope you haven't been too bored with the zoo photos from the last week. This posting will be the last in the series. Thank you for reading.

Wow....your peacock is so crisp and clear....ours..not so clear...but the one with the tail down looks almost exactly like yours! I have certainly enjoyed your zoo series! All the more fun for having been there with you!

Thanks Neva, glad you were able to share the zoo experience with you and Eric. And, we have similar peacock pictures. :)

Thanks Dot. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the zoo pictures. I have no idea what will be posted next. :)

Oh, my goodness. What a beautiful pair of photos--a fine way to end your series. Mama took a look at it and said, "How pretty!"

If I do anything out of the ordinary with my hair, I'll be sure to get a shot of it. At some point, I imagine I'll try something one of these weekends--thanks for pointint that out because my tired brain hadn't had anything like that thought. Right now I'm pretty happy with my hair with my spiral perm and the blonde and red-blonde highlights, as well as those super hair products.

Beautiful peacocks, Have you seen them when they are molting or what ever they call it, they are really ugly, they have peacocks at Peterson's Rock Garden and we went over there a while back and talk about ugly, they have no tails, not much feathers either. Not very pretty.
Have a Happy Easter

Beautiful photos!

I had a peacock and a peahen on my ranch several years ago, got them from a neighbor that was moving. They were wild, though, living in the woods at the end of the corral. When they came into the corral to eat, every other creature gave way, lol.

Wow beautiful. I only had one chance in 20 years to capture peacock with open tail. Great shot. Anna :)

Thanks to everyone who commented. I can't say I have seen a molting peacock or peahen. That sounds more like a naked bird. :)
