Veteran's Day

November 11th is known as Veteran's Day in the United States and a day to honor military veterans past and present.
These photos were taken from last year's Veteran's Day Parade.
This motorcycle rider in the fancy patriotic hat is part of the Patriot Guard Riders who participated in the parade.
The group's mission as taken from their website is
  • Attend military funerals and show our sincere respect for our fallen heroes, their families, and their communities.
  • Shield the mourning family and their friends from interruptions created by any protestor or group of protestors.

Pictures of military heroes past and present carried by volunteers on the parade route.

A special THANKS to all the military veterans today and everyday!

Amazing how some towns still hold parades. I think it is truly wonderful, but a tradition, that I sadly felt had gone by the wayside. Great photos, thanks for sharing and honoring our veterans.

very lively photos, it is my holiday today, but instead of observing the holiday parade, I am here at home doing the mountainous laundry :( Indeed, special thanks to all the military veterans.

Great photos! I can't think of anything worse than protesting at a funeral. I have always said that f course I'd prefer peace but that doesn't detract from my support of the individuals who give up their lives for their country.

I think we need something similar to the Patriot Guard Riders in the UK to shield the mourning from protesters, because at the moment we only have a bunch of bigoted thugs, who are almost as bad as the protesters!

A nicely captured picture...
