Happy International Yarn Bombing Day
I have not heard of this pastime until a week ago at a street festival.
From what I read, it is a way of displaying your yarn artwork publicly on tree trunks, light poles, or wherever your imagination takes you.
You can read about yarn bombing here.
There is a debate of whether this is legal. What do you think?
Some consider it a form of graffiti.
I like it. I think it adds color and fun to bland looking objects.
Let me know if you see any such artwork in your area.

Oh, I thought the yarn bomber herself is a piece of yarn artwork.
It certainly adds colour to the area.
I've never heard of yarn bombing. I don't anybody does it here. I wish they would.
wow, never knew there is such a yarn festival, one of my busmates knit a lot where she gives her knitted products to friends, family and charity.
Rainfield61: If she stays up there long enough, she can probably be considered part of the art.
Lina: I agree and they're cute too.
Yogi: It's one way to beautify an area. Take up knitting. :)
Betchai: This wasn't totally a yarn festival, but I bet there some. Get enough people with like minds and you can create any festival and I'm sure people will come.
i've not come across yard bombing before but they are absolutely cute. thanks for sharing the fun.
from what i've read if you get permission from whoever is in charge of the property you are yarn bombing i.e. the city then it's legal. If you do it without asking first it can be considered graffiti and is then illegal. When i get better at it I may contact my local library about possibly doing something with the front of the property where there are some columns, railings, even a bike rack
