This one-room schoolhouse was built in 1872 for $2,000. Teachers at that time were paid about $4 or $5 a month and sometimes received room and board. A total of 54 teachers taught at the school with the last time being in 1974. Today, it is a museum. These were classroom rules from the school. Do you remember some grade school rules from your past?If you ever sat at one of these desks as a youngster, do remember all those carvings and maybe put in one or two of them yourself? Haha!- Karen

Not unlike some of the ones I had myself in the late 50's and 60's...
PS I bought a Sigma 70mm/2.8 macro and a Manfrotto tri-pod for my Canon 40D. Recommended.
I grew up with those rules. That was in the days when the teachers were respected and they were able to have control in the classroom so they could teach. I didn't carve that desk but I've seen a few that had stuff on them. Oh and about the gum. I think everyone stuck it under the desk. lol
