Skywatch Friday - 3, 2, 1...Blast Off!
This 40 ft. (12 meters) "Raygun Gothic Rocketship" sculpture created by Sean Orlando, Nathaniel Taylor, and David Shulman is a temporary exhibit by San Francisco's waterfront.
The website describes this artwork as a retro-futuristic vision of space travel circa 1930’s-1940’s science fiction.

de engineur: Yes, that is a bird (passenger)on top of the spaceship. I think the temporary sculpture before that was a giant spider. Does anyone remember?
Oh, very nice. It reminds me of the Jetsons and Metropolis and the golden age of cinema - all my favourite things.
