Niagara of the West - Shoshone Falls
After seeing both, it doesn't appear so, but the data says Shonshone Falls is 212 feet high whereas the tallest of the Niagara Falls is 167 feet.
Named after the Indians that lived in the region, this land purchased by the Adams family and in 1932 they donated the it to the city and requested it be "forever held for park purposes only for the beneficial use and enjoyment of all the people."
The lady behind the counter was very friendly, but probably bored this time of year with smaller number of visitors to the area.

beautiful shot of the waterfall, Karen. Maybe, it did not look as taller than Niagara because the volume of the waterfall is not as huge, strong and wide. but I love the waterfalls here too and the surrounding scenery.
These falls seem so beautiful and unspoiled, how strange that they are less famous than Niagara even when they are taller. The water looked almost like metal in the first photo - very nice image.

Waterfalls are wonderful creation which show the strength of nature throughout the time.

eileeninmd: It was nice and warm on the day we visited, but we went back later in the week and the temperature had dropped by 40 degrees!
betchai: I was thinking the same thing. The waterflow on Niagara Falls is many times more than this one and also I am looking down on Shonshone Falls from a farther distance so it is hard to tell its height. It is much more commercialized at Niagara Falls as opposed to the park-like peaceful setting here.
Jenny: I was wondering the same thing. I had no idea there was a waterfall here nor had I heard of it before my research to come here.
TZ: The falls here are not lit up at night like Niagara Falls and the park closes by 9pm.
La Princeipessa Errante: It is about a 10 to 12 hrs. drive from the Bay Area. Worth a stop if you're ever driving up that way.

This place looks nice to just go and talk a walk and look at the water! Epic picture, it looks so majestic and peaceful.
