Like Clockwork
"Neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet, nor hail shall keep the postmen from their appointed rounds."
I guess it is the same for visitors coming to see the Old Faithful geyser at Yellowstone.
The geyser was shrouded by the snow, but people still waited to see it.
When it got closer to showtime, even more people came outdoors.
It was so warm inside that some even ate ice cream while watching the nature show and the silly tourists outside.

this reminds me of our summer vacation in mt. rainier, where we were one of the few tourists who dared hiked in blizzard like conditions at first, but then, because we were not seeing anything but snowflakes and grayness around us, we later ended up in the lobby waiting for snow to end, sadly, we didn't even have old faithful to watch :(
Betchai: I know how you feel to wait out the snow. Luckily, we didn't have to wait long and in-between we went to our room to take a nap. :)
smiling here as I read your line- "watching the nature show and the silly tourists outside"...I think I'd choose to stay indoors hehe...:-) but the sight outside is lovely as it is...
The interior of the last photo is unique and interesting.
The people sound very happy.
I wonder whether you chose to stay inside or outside.
Despite the fact that the lodge looks absolutely gorgeous, I must admit, I would trudge out in the snow to watch Old Faithful. I don't know how you could go that far and not.
Is it still snowing now? This time of the year?
Greetings,
Filip
I love the last photograph particularly, with the cosy looking lights and the silhouettes. Really nice.
if we go that far to see it, well darn, we are going to see it!! lol
I'd probably suffer to wait out in the cold! So, warm lounge for me, please.
Absolutely love the second last photo. A speck of colour amidst greyness. :)
that looks terribly cold but i would hate to stay indoor and missed the marvelous views.
kulasa: The geyser erupts every 90 minutes so you can choose to stay indoors sometimes or go outdoors.
cocomino: It is a very old and rustic lodge. I think people were happy because they were not freezing outside.
rainfield61: I chose both.
La Principessa Errante: I felt sorry for those who were there by tour bus. They probably only had one or two chances to see Old Faithful so they were stuck watching it in the snow.
Filip & Kristel: It was in May when I was there. The weather is better now, but it also means more tourists.
Jenny Woolf: You got it right, very cozy inside.
caite: That is the spirit!
lina: Those specks of color are the silly or bold tourists.
LifeRamblings: You could hardly see anything outside, but if you don't see a snowstorm often, it is quite a feeling.
Hey, I've been one of those silly tourists more than once.
Hmmm. I have to be honest. I'm less keen on going to Yellowstone now that I know it snows in May!!!!!! Maybe I'll get over myself!
I'm always a silly tourist wherever I go so you're not alone. As for the snow in May, I think it was a late season storm. We were inconvenienced due to the road closures and uncertainties, but if you go during the better seasons, you would be stuck with tons of tourists which could be worse.
