Mission San Juan Bautista - Part 4 of 4

A few feet from the mission is the San Andreas Earthquake Fault. In 1803, the church was destroyed by an earthquake on this fault, but this gave the administrators an excuse to build a larger church. The deadly 1906 earthquake which left San Francisco in shambles, but it only damaged the mission's church bell tower.

This is the stairway used to decend down to the "Earthquake Walk".

After walking the length of the path, it was hardly earth shattering. I was expecting some deep crevices in the ground, but I only saw these little fractures.

I'll be out of town next week. Hopefully, I'll have some interesting pictures to post.

Have a nice week,
AV

I'm not sure I could have made myself walk down those steps. Hope you have a nice time away.
