Mission San Juan Bautista - Part 3

This is a statue of Franciscan Friar Junipero Serra who was the founder the California Missions. From my understanding, a statue of Junipero Serra has been erected at each of the 21 California mission grounds.

Right next to the mission grounds is this overlook of the El Camino Real trail. This unpaved road was the main artery stretching between southern and northern California. Imagine centuries ago horses, covered wagons, stagecoaches, soldiers, settlers, missionaries, ...etc. passing through this area. Today, it is used as farm land.

This is a little placard close to the ground as as seen at the El Camino Real overlook in the 2nd photo.

Happy Friday,
AV
