San Francisco Railway Museum

The F-Line streetcar passing in front of the Railway Museum and Ferry Building

Sign outside the Railway Museum.

This is the interior of the museum. It was much smaller than I expected.

Kids or adults can wear a conductor's cap and pose for photos in this makeshift streetcar. You can see this streetcar at the back of the museum in the previous photo.

I once spent a week in SF, but I missed out on that one. A pity, as I went wild with your famous trams ;-)

And, did you have your picture taken, too? Love the way the orange cable car stands out in the photo!

My grandson would love to see this museum. He loves trains.

What a neat little museum! I would love to ride a street car but I imagine it could be scary in San Francisco.

Great shots. I know the inside ones can be difficult. Well done!

So many great places to shoot in SF.

Lara, I loved looking at the old black & white pictures. I almost bought a poster of the old trolleys. There is a small display of all the old transfer tickets. I should have kept some of mine.

Runee, Don't feel bad, I think the museum is fairly new. Did you get to see the cable car museum?

Kate, I don't usually want my picture taken. I like to be the picture taker. :) Glad you like the photo. The streetcar happened to be stopped at that intersection because its cable came loose from the electrical line on top. That happens quite often when these cars make a turn.

Andrea, not too many trains in there, but there are toy streetcars to buy and lots of old photos. I think it will appeal more to adults who like nostalgia.

Dot, Nah, the streetcars are safe, but you need to be careful riding the cablecars.

Lilli & Nevada, the museum was nice, but felt a little strange to me. Here was a museum for nostalgic streetcars, old signs, old photos, ...etc, but the museum was so new, neat and clean. I think it would put someone in a better mood, if the place was old, musty, and darker.
