Crouching Spider

Just a hop & skip away from the Bay Bridge and Pier 14 walkway is this gigantic spider sculpture. It was a big hit with the kids.

It's a big one for sure! I guess some people would actually try to climb on it especially kids. They wouldn't have to worry about me climbing tho. LOL

It would be hard for me to keep my grandson off that spider. That is a big spider. CREEPY!

Dot, kids will climb almost anything especially scary looking things. I wouldn't want to climb it either.

Andrea, yes, it looks like from some creepy monster movie. Unfortunately, I don't think the artist meant to have his creation climbed on.

That's one of the very few spiders I like!

AVCr8teur said...

Fenix, I don't like spiders or any type of insects myself. Seems like there needs to be a big bottle of Raid next to it.

WOW, that thing is huge! Must work wonders for people trying to overcome their fear of spiders. BTW- how did the spider situation at your place of residence turn out? I would imagine that they weren't this big but, from the looks of the pic(s) you had, those spiders weren't tiny either.

Too bad I never went while I was living out there...tell you the truth, I've never even heard about this exhibit until now.

As always, nice to see you, AV (and great shots). Take care, bud, I am off to fall asleep now. :)

I guess kids would like it, but it sort of creeps me out. I'm glad it's there, though, because creativity needs to be out there for all to witness and to be sparked into being creative themselves.

About the Random Santa Sightings, you're right--no one paid them any mind! It was a hoot!

For modern art that is very cleaver and enjoyable. :)

Hey Scott, you remembered my spider problem at home. Luckily we only found 2, but thank goodness they weren't anywhere this huge. Haha! I hadn't heard of this exhibit either until I just happened to see it during my trek into the city. Have a good week.

Lynette, I don't think I touched the thing when I walked by it, but the kids couldn't keep their hands off. I think to some kids, it was so big, they couldn't even make out what it is.

Isadora, I love climbable exhibits. It's art and it's interactive.

"Please do not climb spider"... That's not fair. I've had spiders climb me, so why not tit for tat? Lol!

A friend of mine (who doesn't like cleaning, but who does?) once said that spiders live only in "good" houses. Consequently I say, this spider lives on a good bridge.

brrrrrrrr... too modern art for me :). but as long as the kids like it, it is ok.

That's some spider!! I like spiders. I think they are fascinating.

Thanks for visiting and for the comments.

Yipes, that looks like Shelob.

Maybe I'll see you out and about this week. I'm headed your way tomorrow.

Do you wear a funny hat, or something I might recognize?

Thanks, AV, you have a good week, too, bud.

p.s. AT&T baseball park looks awesome...great shots!

:)

Web-OJ, you are funny, you can reciprocate by climbing onto the spider. No biting.

Hpy, who does like cleaning??? Anyways, good to hear spiders like good and clean homes. Like Scott reminded me in the Comments, I found 2 large spiders in my house a few months ago.

AVCr8teur said...

HappyOne, Did you collect them as kids? I am not a fan of arachnids or any type of bugs.

AVCr8teur said...

Lara, If it doesn't move or bite, I can live with it.

AVCr8teur said...

Oswegan, I'm not familiar with Tolkien's stories, but from pictures of Shelob, it looks comparable to this spider.

Have fun in SF. I don't actually live there. I'm about 40 miles south. Let me know if you need help navigating somewhere.

Thanks Scott for dropping by. I know your work schedule is crazy.

Wow that is a big ugly spider sculpture. Such a shame as it is very tempting for kids especially to want to climb it.

Happyone said...

No, never collected them. I just find them interesting and think they are quite remarkable creatures.

AVCr8teur said...

Lilli, I haven't seen a cute spider yet. I guess the spider is kid-proof and weatherproof as it didn't look broken yet.

HappyOne, there are so many varieties of spiders I discovered when trying to identify the two huge ones that invaded my house. Just have to watch out for those poisonous ones.
