Feel the Love

Last Friday, our HR rep sent out an email to everyone in the office telling us we will be celebrating employee birthdays that land in April. Her email was sent around 10:30am for a noon "party". On Fridays, employees usually go out for lunch so hardly anyone was in the office. When noon rolled around, the HR rep hung up the birthday sign, left some Costco warehouse cookies on the table of the break room, and then left for her own lunch.

I really felt sorry for anyone who had an April birthday because no one cares and the half-hearted attempt of trying to set up a "party" was really done in poor taste.

So, don't you just feel the love at my workplace?

Dang, that's just sad.

Sad indeed. Hope it doesn't go on through the year!

Jenn/Leslie, You said it! Actually, it gets worse as it gets later in the year when the money runs out in the budget. Nov/Dec. birthday celebrations are usually skipped. :( Thanks for commenting.

wow, that does pretty much suck...and I have an April birthday so if I worked for your company, I would have been really disapointed. Well..the cookies looked good....ha ha. Seriously, that is just lame!

Well, my birthday is in January so I sure as hell hope their budget is up to par come the new year. Just playing, but, my bday is in January. Hope you had a wonderful weekend. Take care, AV.

I agree. That is sad and done in poor taste. Why even go bother going through the half hearted effort, ya know?

Dana, you're right, you would've eaten those cookies alone or with me since I stuck around.

Big Scott, It's a little inconsistent. This April celebration was the first we had this year. Imagine how people born in January thru March felt.

Beth, it's like having a birthday party and no one came.
