RoseBelle: You are right, the humongous structure is recognizable in many movies. If you sit on the steps, you can see the Reflecting Pool and Washington Monument and probably the Capitol in the distance.
That photo is stunning! I had to look twice becauase at first, I thought it looked like some of the people in the front were playing musical instruments. It is a lovely scene indeed.
It's been more than 50 years since i saw that as a child. Funny how something do not change.
