The last few weeks have been busy with constant guests coming from out of town, but this is one of the few tourist spots we actually visited.
Do you recognize this tourist spot in San Francisco?
It is Lombard Street or otherwise known as the "Crookedest Street in America" and probably the most traveled street in San Francisco by tourists.
Here are the dozen tourists at the bottom of the hill taking pictures.
At the top of the hill, you will see this sign right before the plunge downward.
This is a view of the city from the top of the hill.
Why the crooked street?
Because of the hill's 27% natural grade, back in 1922, they thought it was safer to design the road into a switchback formation and pave it with bricks.
For walkers, there are stairs with hand railing on both sides of the street.
Even being a native San Franciscan, this was my first time walking up and down those stairs. I was a tourist too!- Karen

This is one of the most unusual, yet unique benches I have ever seen.

A San Francisco building code requires commercial developers in dense downtown areas to include "privately-owned public accessible open spaces" or (POPOS) in their constructions. Atriums and gardens such as this one were built for the public.
Unfortunately, not too many people know about their existence either because they were not well publicized or they were well-hidden. I certainly didn't know about them until I took a guided architectural tour of the city.
Only within the last few years that a map of all the POPOS in the city was published. If you want to go on a treasure hunt, click on the map and visit all of them.- Karen
This looks more like walking through a neighborhood in Miami Beach than on a residential street in San Francisco with art deco colors and flamingos.
This corner apartment shouts out "Look at me!"
So many choices of beer and they all appear to be on sale.- Karen

I am not sure should one find humor or fear in this sign.
Humor because it is not your regular bland "No Parking" sign.
Fear because if you do park here, you could get eaten by a big teeth whale.
But then again, is there parking underwater?- Karen

I was at the local nature preserve on Saturday and spotted this goose strolling around. So many people visit this wildlife habitat that he was not afraid when I approached from the distance.
Is the goose a he or she?
I do not know, but he was quite bold.
He kept his eyes on me, nevertheless.
He then realizes that I am a guest in his house so I will not harm him.
He relaxes and does his morning stretching routine.- Karen
This little nibbler has been eating the flowers from my cherry blossom tree. He stood still long enough for me to catch him in the act.

My heart goes out to all the people of Japan during this difficult time. It is truly one of my favorite countries to visit and difficult to watch the devastation on the news. Take care!- Karen

Nice to see these city trees still have a function and not recycled to be used for another purpose.
How appropriate to sit on a tree and be shaded by trees to contemplate the trees.

After the day's storm, the sky cleared up to see the moon.
Even the tree branches look forward to no rain and want to embrace the bright object in the sky.

Curio shops litter the touristy parts of town in San Francisco and statues such as this one try to lure customers in to buy something.- Karen
In this San Francisco community garden where members come to care for the plants and trees, a reminder to save water is posted at many of the faucets.
Especially like the last few weeks, we did not get much rain so any droplet conserved is a droplet saved.
The garden is open to everyone to enjoy.Have a great weekend!

With it being the Lunar New Year on Thursday, the local art museum hosted a lion dance show during its free admission weekend.
With record high temperatures, there was a large turnout to watch the show.
Kids were encouraged to touch and interact with the lions.- Karen
Here a candy sculptor entertained us with her creativity and skillful hands.
She took requests from the audience and in minutes was able to sculpt a different animal or creature out of a block of molten corn syrup.
She showed off her masterpieces after her demonstration.- Karen
