catsynth: Thanks! Good guess, yes, it is in Hong Kong!
cocomino: You are right, I didn't even think of how similar they are except I know NY doesn't have the Chinese junks which is a good contrast to a modern skyline.
rainfield61: I have been to Penang, but not to the area with lots of boats. I wished that I would have seen it. We stayed at the Golden Sands Resort. I only saw the beach, but don't remember the boats.
LifeRamblings: The tall skyscraper does miniaturize the ferry boats in the water.
EastCoastLife: I agree with you about watching the boats ferrying people and tourists between Hong Kong Island and Kowloon.
Filip: I know what you mean and it seems to take you back in time although the modern buildings through you back to the present.
La Principessa Errante: It's funny that I didn't know I took so many pictures of different boats until I got home. I was happy that one of the junks sailed so close to shore for me to photograph against the skyline.
I absolutely LOVE the Star Ferry. When I was there I would sometimes take it back and forth from Kowloon to HK island, just so I could ride it. Great photos.

Great photos. I like the contrast of the boats/ships to to the linear quality of the skyline. That's HK, right?
What a nice boat. I was surprised those high buildings along the water. It's like Tokyo or NY.
You will find it very interesting if you visit Penang one day.
There are so many similarities between Penang and HK.
beautiful and i particularly love the perspective of the third photo.
I too enjoy watching the boats and ships passing through Victoria Harbour whenever I visit HK.
These old boat have something romantic. Strange against the modern skyline.
Greetings,
Filip
Oh I love that you captured most every common boat one sees in the HK harbor. Always such a stunning skyline.

Great photos. :)
I enjoyed taking a ride in the boat, though it was a choppy ride for me.
