Endless Love in Public

The eastern side of Taiwan has an abundant of metamorphic rocks found in nature. These rocks are turned into marble after being cut and polished.
Since 1995, Hualien County has invited stone sculptors from all over the world to participate in its biennial International Stone Sculpture Festival.
Sculptor Filin Gueorgui created "Endless Love" during one of these festivals and it was displayed by the scenic seaside.

The marker next to the sculpture listing the artwork's title and creator.

I love the title but that is, um, quite a grown up sculpture for public display! It is very well done though.

Nice,

I can imagine the controversy if the sculpture was displayed here.

Gorgeous. I love countries that still invite outside artists for contests like this. It is so enriching for all concerned.

Emma: I was thinking the same thing too. When I was there, all the tourists were concentrating on the scenic view and not the sculpture.

Yogi: I wonder if there would be a controversy if it was displayed in a museum instead.

cocomino: Marble is a lovely stone!

La Principessa Errante: Agreed, it also gives artists an opportunity to network when they otherwise might never have a chance.

Cool sculpture. Hualien is an interesting place to visit. I will go on my next Taiwan trip. Missing Taiwan already. :)
