Eight-Arch Bridge to Sansientai
I have never seen a walking bridge with such a unique architecture stretching across the water to another island.
The island of Sansientai (translates to Three Immortals Terrace) in the distance is a nature preserve with three large rock formations. Legend says three of the Eight Immortals from Chinese mythology was here; thus, the three rocks.
Unfortunately, we only had time to make it through four arches. The winds got stronger as we moved further away from shore to where it felt like we were walking sideways.

Oh this bridge in Taiwan reminded me another one called Kintaikyou in Japan. :)
They look very similar - just different in colour.

The bridge itself is called Kintaikyou.
Located in Iwakuni.

Oh, yes. I like the design of this bridge. I wonder if the number of arches helps to moderate the strongs winds of which you speak. Maybe they were there just to attract the touist dollar.

That last photo is just fantastic. You know, I would never have had the foresight to worry about the return journey. It reminds me of the time I made it to the top of a mountain in Cape Town. I love the name of the island Three Immortals Terrace.
