Sukhamandir: Are you in Fremont? I thought you were further up in northern CA.
I thought I would take a break from my trip to Taiwan and post a recent outing to Ardenwood Farms where they are having a record year in Monarch Butterflies migrating to the area. Every year they migrate here in the hundreds, but this year they number in the thousands. The 2 pictures above only show a fraction of the butterflies clustered in the trees.
Wow, I've never seen so many butterflies together!! Beautiful captures.

AVCr8teur No not Freemont, We are on the coast about 40 minutes from the Pacific Grove Sanctuary where my kids used to go on school field trips.
oh, would love to see this one too, never saw a lot of them like this.

Thank you everyone for your comments. It is quite a sight to see and almost unreal. There are other locations in Northern California like Sukhmandir Kaur mentioned that are also migration points for the Monarch Butterflies.
Jana: Every year they come to the same cluster of trees at the Ardenwood Farms park. So to answer your question, it is just out in nature and not a special butterfly garden.
WOW - gorgeous shots, last time I was there is was cold and dreary and the butterflies were hunkered down so it was hard to see any color. These are gust fabulous shots.
