Rooftop Statues
The artist, Antony Gormley, created these naked figures, 31 in all, in his own image. Some are ground-level according to this article. The purpose of this art project called "Event Horizon" is to have people become aware of their environment.
If you happen to be in New York City between now and August 15th of this year, look up, and let me know what you think. Here is a map to find all 31.

That statue looks creepy standing up there. If I didn't have a good eye, I would of assumed a real person is standing on the rooftop.
The naked figures based on the sculptor's own body sounds unusual to me.
That would scare me, seeing that on the rooftop and thinking it was real. While I admire creative thinking and artistry, this seems a bit strange to me. Great shots though :)
Oh my god, please, don't jump.
These are neat. I will keep my eyes open for these unsettling dudes.
Oh yes he was responsible for Angel of the North statue - whenever I see it when returning from the ferry I always know we are home.
That is really interesting and a bit creepy too. Well, given how creepy the film Event Horizon was, it is a lot creepy! But I'd love to see one. I am really getting to like installation art.
Sounds like most everyone agrees the statues are a little strange. The sculptor is popular in the UK so mrsnesbitt, I'm not surprised you are familiar with his work. ;)
