Albino alligator or crock? That's something you don't see everyday if ever.

Wow, you certainly don’t see that every day! He’s very lucky to be where he is, I don’t suppose he would last long in the wild.

An alligator that is wordless.

That is quite impressive. You can really see its texture with the white - I also like the contrast against the rocks.

Karen, I am so happy. You captured my buddy Claude at the Academy. What a great shot. I got a few photos of him while I was there but nothing as good as this one. He is adorable and I don't even like alligators. We bonded while I was there. Not sure why :D

Thanks everyone for your comments. Like Poetic Shutterbug said, that is Claude, the resident albino alligator at the California Academy of Sciences Museum in San Francisco. Because of its pigmentation it would not survive long in the wild so he is housed here. Most of you are right, it is rare to see such a sight.

Catsynth: You are right, its claws and scales are more noticeable against a contrasting background.

Poetic Shutterbug: You must have been hypnotized by Claude's unusual reddish-pink eyes. :)

They are really rarely and interesting. In St.Augustin in Florida, there is also an albino alligator to see in the Alligator-Farm.
