Picture Perfect Windows

A visit to Beijing will most likely land you at the Summer Palace. A place where royal families of the past come to relax in the pavilions and enjoy the beautiful surrounding sceneries.
During my visit on an overcast day, I noticed the brightly-colored windows on a narrow external corridor. Many tourists had to squeeze by the 3-person wide walkway and probably did not even notice them.

three close-up samples. Are the windows made to look out of or to accentuate the exterior?
What do you think?

Oh ya, Summer Palace. I read that a lot of treasures are with western countries after the western invasion into China in the early 19th century.

That one photo looks like a little teapot design. I just love the artwork there and I'm so glad captured this for us in photos.

Cool windows, though I'm not sure what they were suppose to be for. Can you actually see through them, or are they more decorative?

Looks like you didn't miss anything, too many people are in too big of hurry to obsorb what's around them.

Jaypee: I think there must be a story behind each shape and why it was chosen. I wish I knew what it is.

Jam: Yes, many items were looted and destroyed by various invaders. I know China is remodeling or have remodeled lots of their historical structures either damaged by wars or old age.

Poetic Shutterbug: You are right, I didn't even notice that before. It is a teapot design. When I first looked at it, I thought it was an apple, but no, it is definitely a teapot. I like the little drawings within the window too.

Rainfield61: There is so much to see, it is hard to miss. I know there were still lots more that I missed.

Sandy: The windows were too high in the front, but if you were a tall person, I am sure you can look inside. From the inside, you can definitely look outside, but for such a scenic view, I would have thought they would make bigger windows. Must be used for decorations mostly.
