Wanna Ride?
It was a unique experience for me and I think for others because the line was fairly long even at $10 USD (6.82 Euro) a ride. I had to wait awhile before the crowds cleared to take this shot of the workers.
According to Wikipedia, camels with one hump like this one are called Dromedary or the more familiar name of Arabian Camel. They usual grow to a height of 6.5 ft. (2m)and weigh between 850lbs. to 1300lbs. (400kg to 600kg).

Did you see a camel at the circus? I saw horses when I was a kid. Horses were rare to be seen in my country, when there was no internet.
They spit you know. Takes all the glamour out of it if your the recipient. :)
That is pretty cool but doesn't surprise me. I saw a camel down at ocean beach a while back and have a photo of it somewhere so nothing surprises me anymore :) Cool shots.
I rode one up Mount Sinai in Egypt. Wonderful experience!
Rainfield61: You're right, I forgot about the circus, but I haven't been to see a circus in decades.
Mad Cats: Camel spit sounds slimy. I wonder how they decide who they should spit on.
Poetic Shutterbug: You sure see a lot of interesting things at Ocean Beach, but I didn't expect a camel. Maybe it was an escapee from the zoo. :)
Mei Teng: Wow, what an adventure! That must've been a trip of a lifetime!
I went on a camel ride whilst in Morocco. I have to say that the camel in your picture doesn't appear to have much of a hump... the camel I rode had a massive hump! I found it really scary (not the camel itself, but the ride) and don't think I will ever do it again! And when they want you off their back, they drop onto their front knees, thus sending you flying over their head! Very comical
I don't think the kids enjoyed that really.... Thanks for the bit of an information about the Arabian Camel...
