What are those things at the base of the tower? Those are locks visitors left behind as a momento of their journey here.

Here are more locks blocking the view beneath.

I wonder who started this tradition. Someone mentioned that these are love locks as many are organized in a heart shape.

If I had a lock on display here, I would keep my key as a momento and not throw away.
