Yukon Suspension Bridge

I have always been fascinated by suspension bridges. The Yukon Suspension Bridge is the 2nd one I have walked on. The first was the Capilano Suspension Bridge located in Vancouver, British Columbia.

From recollection, the Capilano was much more exciting because a strong wind or someone walking across with a heavy step will cause the bridge to sway slightly side-to-side. Click here for a short video of the bridge. If you look closely, you can see it sway.

The Yukon Suspension Bridge, located close to the U.S./Canadian border, was part of an excursion during my recent Alaskan vacation.

This is the view you will see after you enter.

Ready to take that first step across the bridge? Don't look down!

Once you reach the other side, look back and you will be rewarded with this view.

Are you ready to go back? Watch out for that first step!

Hope you enjoyed the tour!

If you ever come to Finland, Repovesi National Park has one suspension bridge within 1km from nearest parking place.
If you feel more adventurous, Karhunkierros (direct translation would be Bear's Ring) hiking trail in Lapland&Kuusamo is 72-80km long and it has at least six suspension bridges. Their is also shorter version from Karhunkierros, which has at least three suspension bridges.
All these bridges are free for anyone who happens to be passing by.

Hmm.. Now that I think of it, maybe I should write post about these bridges on next week.

There is one at the Tallulah Gorge in North Georgia but I can't go on those things. What an adventure! I enjoyed the little video. I guess that's the closest I'll get since I don't handle heights well.

Juha: Thank you for informing us about the suspension bridges in your area. I do look forward to seeing your postings next week.

Dot: I didn't realize there are so many suspension bridges around the world. I am sure these bridges are safe, just don't look down.
