Fountains

These are the fountains located by Santa Clara's City Hall. By the way, the exposure time was 1/5 seconds at ISO-1600 without a tripod or flash. It took a few tries and breath holding to have the photo turn out not too blurry.

For you locals, Santa Clara is now one step closer to possibly becoming the new home of the San Francisco 49ers football team after the city council voted 6-to-1 last night to move forward with a feasibility study to build a new stadium about 5 miles from where we currently live. Luckily, we moved in 2006; otherwise, we would only be a few blocks from the proposed stadium site.

The fountains are really pretty. Must be a "sight for sore eyes" at night!

:) One of the reasons I love Rome, Italia so much is for its many fountains. This is a lovely spot as well.

This is a lovely photo!! I am still not very good at night shots...I like this one!

Dot, it's fairly dark in that area even with the street lamps so the lights shining up from the fountains and the "bright" water shooting upwards really help.

Thanks Andrea!

Isadora, I've never been to Rome, but I can imagine the fountains there to be more ornate. We don't have too many around here.

Thanks Neva, night photos are fun, but challenging. You can do lots of tricks with long exposures.

I'm impressed. That came out really good!

I try to take pics at night (before I had my tripod!) and they always come out too blurry no matter how still I try to hold the camera. You did great!

I do have a tripod now...I just have to practice.

That is a beautiful world of yours. How lucky to be born there. I love San Francisco.

The "Santa Clara 49ers" sounds pretty stupid to me.

My brother will be pissed, he has season tickets and lives in the city.

Dana, for night shots if your shutter speed is slower than 1/60 of a second then the rule of thumb is use a tripod or turn up your ISO. I hate tripods because they are so cumbersome. I thought about buying a monopod.

Hello Peace, thank you for visiting and commenting. Come back for more photos of SF.

Oswegan, I think they should continue to keep the name "SF 49ers". If this thing passes it will be many years before the stadium will be ready. Your brother can always take Caltrain and then the VTA bus. What a hassle.
