I visited this northern California park recently. It might be a little tacky to some, but the traffic through the tree was constant. The van in the third picture seemed to barely fit and the motorcycle rider made me laugh.
I am not a fan of this sort of thing, as really, the structural integrity of the tree HAS to have been comprimised. BUT, having said that, it just goes to show how old and large this tree is!
oh my that is so interesting! what a lovely place to visit! showing this to my kiddos when they get home from school :-)drive thru which is like no other :D
I remember doing this as a kid. My Dad got such a kick out of driving the family station wagon through it. Now, I suppose it isn't quite as novel, but still as much fun.

Mines up as well at AussiePomm - Holmenkollen
Have a great day!!
That must be an amazing experience!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots.
Sukhmandir Kaur: Those giant redwoods were impressive and I hope you enjoyed the area as much as I did.
ReplyDeletecaite: Haha, I always wanted to go through one and see one up close.
Bernie: The opening was carved out in the 1930's so it has survived. I think this is just one of three such openings in the area.
Indrani: It was, thanks!
Very interesting. A large truck doesn't seem to ride in the tree but my small car can drive in it.

ReplyDeleteHas to be the most unusual 'drive-thru' I've ever seen!
ReplyDeleteWe did the same park years ago. I thought it was fun seeing how big the trees can get. Great shots.
ReplyDeleteOh, that is cute! I really like that. I'm really impressed that the tree survived!
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to see that! I've seen the big redwoods but none you could drive through. I hope the tree isn't hurt by it.

ReplyDeleteNever seen this, is it possible to pass with a Ferrari or an other car which is rather wide?
ReplyDeleteGreetings,
Filip
Don't think I drove through the tree. Looks like it's particularly fun on a motorcycle or bicycle.
ReplyDeleteWhat a poor tree being operated on the abdomen.
ReplyDeleteThat is amazing! Driving through a tree. Would love a photo of me doing that. lol
ReplyDeleteThat's on my bucket list!
ReplyDeletehmmm, for the cars it looks rather tight, no?:-))very interesting to see, I hope the tree is not suffering from all the trespassers...
ReplyDeleteTacky can be FUN! :)
