  1. Oooh! I love these photos, especially the first photo. That sluggy snail creature is really good too! I don't usually see slugs up close, except when they crawl out of the grass on to pathways and then people step on them and squash them (true story).

  2. With the nice weather here, I went hiking with local meetup groups and took close up shots of the critters and insects out and about. If you are local in the San Francisco Bay Area, the hikes included Mountain View's Shoreline Park, Morgan Hill's Uvas Canyon County Park, and the Palo Alto's Baylands.

  7. Is that a Mayfly or Midge maybe on the mushroom? Really puts size into perspective. Beautiful closeups.

  10. We have had some nice weather of late, haven't we? A bit of lousy weather, too (yesterday and today). I love the pictures - I only saw a banana slug once or twice in all the time I lived in Santa Cruz and wandered in the surrounding areas. I also quite like the mushrooms and the little guy peeking out from the hole :)

  18. Thank you for all your comments. Seems like most people like the banana slug which are known to roam the area, but I only saw one that day. I am not sure what kind of insect is on the mushroom although it looks like has a big stinger in the back.

  21. Hikes are always great fun, and stumbling upon little creatures adds to the outdoors experience. The first picture especially is awesome.
