Thank you everyone for commenting. Yes, these are made of glass, but are not bottles that hold anything. I saw them at an antique store and are for wall decorations. You probably see ghostly figures because the masks were only partially coated with coloring. The "nest thingy" was just a place to hold them. At $35US each, the owner probably wanted them in a secure location.
