Endless Stairways

I was at a local museum last month and saw these stairs in front of me. In my mind, this area was begging to be photographed. Although I would've liked one lower to the ground, but I think security might have taken me away if I was to lay on my stomach for the shots.

I'm taking an online photography course at a local junior college and part of self-introduction to the class, we had to describe what types of subjects we like to photograph. I had to ponder that for awhile... I guess I decided on "unusual", "architectural", and "travel".

What types of pictures do you like to take?

Happy Friday,
AV

  1. Wow, the perspective on that one is INCREDIBLE. It was ABSOLUTELY begging for a picture to be taken. I might have considered getting on the ground...ha ha.

Hey AV, I'm also going to be signing up to take an on-line photography course at MY local junior college too!! I feel like such a copy cat! If we traveled together, we'd never get anywhere because we'd have to stop to take pictures every five steps!!!

You know I like to take pics of flowers, my kiddo and jumping shots of course :)

  2. Thanks Dana! This museum was strict and I'm sure laying on the floor would've have been grounds for expulsion. One guard came up to me and said I should hold my camera bag a certain way. I remember reading this on the rules to avoid any accidental knocking over of art pieces.

Have fun in your online class. You're right, make it every 3 steps we'll be stopping for a photo op.

  3. Even if experimental, you achieved a good photograph with a lot of positive elements.
The frame includes the subject as should, has a lot of level and this strengthens the prospect, the tones grey many.
Generally a pleasant subject, from the corner of reception that you shot.

  5. I never thought about taking an online course from a local college. I'll have to check into that. I sure need one!
I like old barns, weeds, dried stuff, things that look old. Maybe I should do a self picture. lol

  8. Those stairs do seem rather formidable. Think of the person who is frail, looking up.

I really prefer to photograph people but for the daily city blog I rarely do so. I love expressions and posture.

  10. Dot, thank you for your kind comments. I did freelance photography for awhile, but I'm far from a pro. Yes, you can take online photography courses and lots of schools offer them.

  11. Hye, thank you for your comment. I have always been told the best way to improve your photography is to take pictures regularly. Good luck to you.

  12. Annie, there are also elevators so a frail person won't have to tackle those stairs. I also like photographing people, but most people don't like strangers taking their photos.

  20. Photowannabe, I think in-person is the best way to learn, but the school is a little far away. I know what you mean about taking any photo around that you think is interesting.

  21. Mr. Viruz, good luck in your endeavors as a photographer. I, too, like taking reality photos, but I'm a little shy about encountering street people.

  22. Tanakwagu, that is funny. I remember the infinite loop myself and it does look like infinite steps.

  23. Thanks Lara. It can get kind of dizzy if you look at it too long and the mirrors add some confusion.

  24. Hi Claire, nice to meet you. Thanks for dropping by my blog. That's a great idea, I can blog about my online class. Glad I was able to take a stair photo for you. I don't hike too much, but would like to take my camera during my outings too.

  25. Otilius, nah, I would've have been booted out of there so fast if I had actually laid down. As I was telling another reader earlier, I had a guard tell me he didn't like the way the camera bag was hanging from my shoulder.

  26. Thanks NYCIndividual! I think the mirror added to the vertigo too.
