B is for Boats on ABC Wednesday

The seagulls were following this boat as one of the passengers was feeding them along the way.

Rows of sailboats docked in San Francisco Bay.

A sailboat named "Super Gnat". Why?

  20. I do believe the owner of the fist vessel might be offended if you refered to his as a "boat". :)

I though all "Super Gnats" came from SE Georgia on the coast in the marshes where they can pick you up and carry you away...

  21. Great boats - especially the marina shot!

  22. Thanks Everyone for the compliments and for commenting.

Dirty Knees: Glad I was able to bring the ocean to you, if only in pictures.

Neva: Thanks! Gnat's too funny. Maybe the artist who painted the name had one too many. I'm sure there's a story to each name.

Bonnie: I agree, the marina photo is my favorite too. There's so many boats, do the owners remember where they're docked. It's not like they sail everyday. ;P

Ninnie: I don't think I would get used to that constant motion living on a boat, but it would definitely be an adventure.

  23. Photowannabe: Thanks! Boats are fun to photograph.

DeeMom: Thanks, I love the water too, but only in a boat or ship.

Runee: there were tons of boats on the marina. What you see in the picture was just a sampling. You would had a choice of selecting your favorite.

ArneA: You sure are perceptive. I saw the first one sail right by Alcatraz Island.

Andrea: You probably saw San Diego in the background. It is a beautiful skyline.

DaryIE: Looking forward to your SF pictures. Thanks for dropping by and commenting.

Ackworth: I wonder what the gal was feeding those seagulls. I wonder if it was cavier.

JoAnne: Welcome to ABC Wednesday. You're going to fit right in. :)

  26. Digital Flower: Thank you for your compliment. That means a lot coming from a distinguished photographer.

Dragonstar: Thanks! Sunshine and sailing go together. I was surprised all those boats were still docked when the weather was perfect for sailing.

Kate: I agree with you. All those masts in a row do look intriguing.

Lara: I would boats would be popular for B's. Thanks for looking at mine too.

Petunia: Happy ABC Wednesday. Glad you like that one too.

Alan: You crack me up. I guess I can use that picture again when the letter Y rolls around. I think I rode one of those Super Gnats you mentioned.

VP: Thanks, that marina photo seems to be the favorite of most and it was taken with just my point & shoot camera.

Lilli & Nevada: Luckily, there was wind otherwise it would've taken their sail out.

Any shots about houseboats in Sausalito?

What comes to naming boats, I think 'another woman', etc. are my favorites ... :)

  32. Juha: No houseboats of Sausalito yet. Perhaps the next time I go across the Golden Gate Bridge or take the ferry across. Ah, 'the other woman' are possibilities.

DaryIE: No problem. Always glad to help a fellow blogger out.

Edmundnesbitt: That sounds like an adventure. I think we all want to see your photos and live vicariously through you. :)

Roentarre: Thank you very much. The first photo was taken during winter. You can see the people all bundled up. The last photo was taken during the Fall when it was still warm.

  33. That is a variety of boats. I always become fascinated with the collection of masts in a marina. It can't help but create an awesome image.

  34. I love water and boats, especially sailing boats. I'd quite happily live on one. I have a dream, well it's a fantasy actually but I think I'd be wise to keep that one to myself :)

  35. Katney: Thanks! They all look so uniform. I guess I like patterns.

Mike: You have lots of boats to choose from for your collection. :)

  36. Nice series - I really like the middle. I took a very similar picture in Port Elizabeth last week.
I have been enjoying your pictures and posts.
The series on Alcatraz is interesting - what a stark place. Criminals are either stupid or optimists - I don't have a criminal mind, but the thought of ending up there would be enough of a deterrent to live a crime free life.

  38. Max-e: Thank you very much for reading my Alcatraz posts. I have a few more photos yet to post. Crime doesn't pay, but too many haven't learned that yet. I look forward to visiting your blog.

Εμμανουήλ: Thank you for your compliment! :)
