P is for Polar Bear on ABC Wednesday

These polar bears at the zoo were a playful bunch. I spent an hour watching them on a standing room only platform. I saw people come and go, but the bears maintained their playfulness swimming effortlessly to and fro and playing with their plastic ball or large plastic block of ice. You can see their fur weaving back and forth in the water and glowing in the sunlight. Simply delightful.

  6. Thanks a lot for visiting my blog. I'm glad you like my pictures of Boston and I hope you'll visit Boston again soon. I'd like to think of my blog as a primer for tourists and a fun way for locals to rediscover their city and comments like yours made me feel like I'm actually accomplishing something :).

I find your blog very interesting. I've been looking at your wonderful pictures and I must say that I really like what I see.

And I love polar bears so today's photos are a real treat. :)

  8. Great capture. I especially like the second one with the bears nose peeking out of the water. Good choice for "P".

  9. The most adorable pups I've seen were polar bear ones being hand reared - in just a matter of few weeks they were just too big and strong to handle. Lovely 'P'. :)

  10. Good idea. I love the one of the bear underwater poking his nose up from underneath.

  18. Neva, I'm thinking the same thing. All bears look cuddley until you look at their sharp claws and teeth.

  19. Photowannabe, You're another person who likes the 2nd polar bear. He/She really liked basking in the sun and playing with the simulated chunk of ice.

  20. WalksFarWoman, wow how for fortunate to be able to see bear cubs being hand reared. I wonder if they new who their human mom & pop were when they grew up.

  27. Stuart, I didn't realize there's no polar bears in Australia. I guess you have koala bears, but they're not quite as cute.

  33. Isadora, it was amazing to see them playing non-stop even when I left. I would've thought they would rather lay out in the sun.

  34. Thanks David for your compliment. I guess I should thank the polar bear in return for making it seem easy.

  35. Thanks Dana. I never really gave that 2nd picture a good look. I guess I'm too hard on myself. That's an idea, give the bears a Coke toy.

  36. polar bears always look a lot friendlier than they actually are. Lovely pics.

  37. Mike, you're right. These big guys looked adorable when they're playing and swimming, but you wouldn't want to encounter one outside a cage.
